The Greek word apocalypse means revelation. For Jews and Christians it is the divine revelation of facts unknown until their disclosure by the prophet chosen by God. St. John the Evangelist’s Apocalypse, written on the island of Patmos, is the narration of the revelation transmitted by the Divinity. It is erroneously considered “The End of the World”, “The Last Judgment” and “Heaven and Hell”. These pictures belong to multiple copies of Ms Beatus of Liebana (ca 730-800), an Iberian monk.
A palavra grega apocalipse significa revelação.
