St. Petersburg

São Petersburgo, cidade da Federação Russa, fica situada nas margens do rio Neva na entrada do golfo da Finlândia. Recebeu os nomes de Petrogrado (1914-1924) e Leninegrado (1924-1991). Pedro, o Grande, fundou-a em 1703 para capital do Império. Constitui um dos maiores centros culturais europeus.

St. Petersburg, a city of the Russian Federation, is located on the banks of the Neva River at the entrance of the Gulf of Finland. It was also named Petrograd (1914-1924) and Leningrad (1924-1991). Peter the Great founded it in 1703 to be the imperial capital. Saint Petersburg is a major European cultural centre.
