Siena, Library of Aeneas Silvio Piccolomini (16th century)

In the early years of the 16th century, the painter Bernardino di Betto or Pinturicchio (1454-1513) devoted himself to executing aspects of Aeneas Silvio Piccolomini’s life (1405-1464), bishop of Siena, later Pope Pius II (1458-1464), in the library attached to the cathedral of that city in Tuscany.
