Caravanas Maometanas (Muslim caravans)

For centuries the transportation of people and goods across the desert Muslim countries was made using camels. Travelers and merchants journeyed in caravans guided by those who knew the route. Orientalist painters of the 19th century dedicated many of their works to the Muslims customs, as they were considered exotic and unknown in the Christian West.
