Pandora

Zeus created her out of clay in order to punish men, like Prometheus, who rebelled against the gods. In the Iliad (XXIV, 527) Homer mentions two jars (pithoi) at Zeus’ home place, where he kept the good and the evil separately. Pandora opened the box and so let all kinds of misery spread around the world.
